If the condom breaks when you are penetrated by a HIV positive man or transsexual woman, and they ejaculate inside; or if you are HIV positive and penetrate a HIV negative person, you need to know there is a treatment) that can reduce your risk of infection, Post Exposure Prophylaxis or PEP.

You should begin treatment as soon as possible if you have been exposed. It is best to begin within 6 hours after possible infection and always before 72 hours have passed.

These drugs are to be taken only under special circumstances, after you have evaluated the risks and benefits of treatment with your doctor.
